Stoichiometry deals with relationship! Specifically, the relative quantities of products to reactants in a chemical reaction.
Stoichiometry is used for:
- converting between different units
- forming ratios between products and reactants
- calculating quantities of products and reactants (in mass, moles, volume, ...)
A few key ideas:
- Where do you go to convert moles to mass and mass to moles? The periodic table.
- Where do you go to get the ratio of one substance to another substance? The balanced chemical equation.
